Robert Farrar Capon was an Episcopal priest, writer, and chef who authored many books, all of which insisted on good humor, good food, and the grace of God. He lived with his wife Valerie on Shelter Island in New York, until his death in 2013. In 2016, Mockingbird was granted the rights to republish 5 of Robert's out-of-print books. The first of these, a never-before-released collection of essays, More Theology and Less Heavy Cream, delivers fictional dialogues about theology and cooking. The second, a retelling of the gospel story but in 1990s Cleveland, is the unconventional Man Who Met God in a Bar. Third was a re-publication of Robert's first best-seller, Bed and Board, a timeless manifesto on law and grace in marriage. Perhaps the most off-the-wall is Exit 36, a novel about adultery, suicide, and the mysteries of divine love. Lastly, The Youngest Day meditates on time and the passing seasons, each correlated with what are traditionally called "the four last things": Death, Judgment, Hell, and Heaven—we shouldn't assign favorites but this is probably ours.
